  • James Varsity Jacket

James varsity jacket came in and it was still cold enough outside that he got a chance to wear it. James only wore it the one day as the temps warmed up and James said that the jacket was very warm being leather and all. Not that we don’t enjoy James wearing his jacket but with spring here we are hoping he won’t have to wear it till after Halloween 2019.

James got his letter last year for track shot put and we ordered it from Park athletic in Allen Park, a sporting good store that was in business when James Dad was his age.

  • James on Track Team

We are all proud of James as he performs for Annapolis JV Track Team. He is currently on the JV squad but did throw a little for the Varsity at certain events. James does the shot put and each time he throws the ball he gets a little better and better. He also is working on the Discus throw. James and Dad hope to work on this over the summer months which his coach says means he needs to strengthen his upper body as best as possible. James has gotten several exercises to do from his coach and has been very attentive and diligent in his practices both at Annapolis and the back yard. So far James’s biggest nemesis has been all the rainfall we received this spring.

  • James Gold Honor Roll

James did great his second trimester and was rewarded with the gold honor roll. The family is very pleased and proud of his accomplishment at Annapolis.

  • James Makes Silver Honor Roll

We are all very proud of James and his academic work at High School. He was rewarded today with the Silver Honor roll from Annapolis High School.

  • O.W. Best Awards Night

It was a special night for James as he attended the O.W. Best awards night and came away with two awards, one for character and the other for extra effort. The ceremony lasted about an hour and afterwards refreshments were served for everyone. Mom and Dad were in attendance and could not have been more proud of James, especially since he transferred to O.W. Best from Lincoln Park in the middle of the school year which could not have been easy, but he did a great job of it. James last day of Middle School was a half day tomorrow, so for all intensive purposes this was his graduation ceremony. Video’s of the event are below the pictures.

  • O.W. Best Dance

This was James first dance at O.W. Best and he had a great time. The dance was a little bit more formal than the ones he had at Lincoln Park since it was 8th graders only and was sort of a graduation dance as these kids will be heading into Annapolis next year. James said the music was good, but it was not live as they had a DJ (which is cool).

  • O.W. Best Honor Roll

We are pleased to announce that James has made the honor roll at O.W. Best Middle School in Dearborn Heights. His classes include Math, US History, Mastering Common Core, Science, Language Arts, and Life Skills.

James is running track this quarter and will have to keep the grades high if he wants to continue running track so this quarter will be an even bigger challenge for him.

Congratulations James, we are all very proud of you.

  • O.W. Best Track Team

James is on the OW Best track team and does a couple events. This is really the first organized sports that James had ever participated in while in school and James is making the best of it. We had to take James in for a sports physical and instead of picking him up at school we pick him up at the track (unless it rains) so its been a good experience for Mom and Dad as well, sitting in the stands and watching all the events. The average track meet takes over two hours so by the time James gets finished its well past 6pm and he is hungry and thirsty as one might imagine.

  • Annapolis High School Orientation

James got a post card letting him know that he would be going from OW Best Middle School to Annapolis High School and that he was invited to an orientation. This night was very exciting for James as he was about to walk into his school for the next four years. Mom, Dad, and James all went and watched the slide show and lectures in the auditorium. This was Dads first time at Annapolis since he graduated there in 1979 (38 years ago) and the place looked pretty much the same. The pool was still there, but the senior drinking fountain was gone, probably politically incorrect in this age. James had a blast and afterwards everyone was invited to the cafeteria for cookies and drinks and to meet the staff of Annapolis High School.

  • James Tours O.W. Best

James will be changing schools sometime in January 2017 as he goes back to the Dearborn Heights school system (which means no more bus rides and 5am wakeups). To help him with the transfer all his past teachers from Lincoln Park joined us Monday morning for a tour of OW Best.

Upon arrival it was a “late start Monday” (or something similar) where the students did not have to show up for the first hour of class, which left the school relatively empty for the tour. James got a free t shirt and a few other perks and got to see all three of his past teachers at the same venue.

Many thanks to the teachers and administrators at Dearborn Heights and Lincoln Park for making this happen.
