  • Hoover Elementary Movie Night 2014

This had to be one of the coldest days of the year, in fact, school was cancelled for the next day. But Dad had promised James we would attend the Hoover Elementary Movie Night and watch “Monsters University”, the prequel to the Monsters Inc movie that James loved as a child.

The event had an average attendance so I am sure this was affected by the weather. However once inside it was warm and the popcorn was fresh. The screen was an inflatable screen on the stage which I had never seen before. The movie went over very well and James enjoyed the evening.

We hope to attend the next showing at Hoover, but this weather has got to break first. Going out and starting the car to go home the temperature was about -10 and we did not feel warm air until we pulled up in our drive at home.

  • Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade 2013

Not the best conditions for a parade as it rained all day on Halloween. The parade was originally planned to go around the block but because of the poor conditions they only had the kids march around the school. Lots of great costumes despite the weather conditions. Speaking of weather, James decided on his costume a couple days before the event, he wanted to go not as a monster or politician or celebrity, but as a weather man. We made up a thunderstorm weatherman outfit for him with raindrops falling from the umbrella (as if we needed them today) and a thunderstorm cloud as well. Due to the weather it worked out well as he was dressed head to toe in wet weather gear, simulating a weatherman broadcasting from a hurricane area.

  • School Party as James Completes 4th Grade 2013

You can always tell when the school year is coming to an end when they have the Hoover school party (I believe the party was May 22nd). This is one of James’ favorite events in the world and he always has a great time and tells us all about the fascinating things he and his class did at this event. Thanks to his teachers for sending us these pictures.

James graduated the 4th grade with honors and will enter the 5th grade next fall. We are very proud of the hard work James puts in at school and he has certainly come a long way. We are not sure what teacher he will have (hopefully Mrs Jent since he already knows her and maybe more importantly, she knows him and all his “schemes”).

    Let summer vacation begin 🙂

  • Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade 2012

James and the entire Hoover Elementary class participated in their annual Halloween Parade. James went as skeleton (as he did last year) because he figured there would be many Mario’s (which is what he is trick or treating as tonight).

The parade went into the residential area which was different than previous years. It was also held on Halloween day, Oct 31st, which I don’t think it was in the past. The parade stretched well over a block in length and was very impressive to see.

Great time by all and the weather, although 42 degrees and slightly wet, was good enough to get the event in.

  • James Makes Hoover Elementary Honor Roll 2012

We got a real big surprise today when James came home with an honor roll certificate for the fourth quarter. This is Jame’s second honor roll this year so like we did when he got his first one we took him out to celebrate. He had a chocolate/vanilla swirl dipped in chocolate at the Dairy Queen, and got a Wii point card for his Nintendo Wii system. We know James had to work hard to earn the certificate this quarter and we are all so very proud of his achievement(s).

James last day of school is Thursday and we do have a few surprises for him on that day as well.

  • School Party as James Completes 3rd Grade 2012

Below are some pictures sent by James’ teacher of him playing at the annual school picnic.

  • James Skipping Rope at Hoover Elementary 2012

I asked James what to write for these pictures and he told me “Jump Rope At Recess”. The pictures were taken at his school’s field day by a school secretary and sent to us by his teacher. Jame’s teacher also wrote the following “James did so well at everything. He really practiced jump rope; it’s a hard skill to teach someone but he was game.”

Good for James. I have never been able to master the jump rope.

  • Reading Night at Hoover Elementary 2012

James had a fun time at the Hoover Elementary Reading night. First he met up with a couple of his class mates then got to be entertained with “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis. After that James went to his first reading destination which was Ms. Frizzle’s Castle which was read by Mrs Jent, his regular teacher. After reading a story the kids got to make tiaras, wands, and shields. James made a shield and you can see it as the last picture in the gallery. The S in the upper left hand represents what James wants to be in life…a School teacher. The K in the upper right represent his family K=Kleiber. The lower left H represents Espirit Decorp, mainly Hoover elementary, and the J represents James. The Kleiber Crest looked great on his practice sheet, however when he went to put it on his Shield he put the crest on the Titanic! A thousand years from now when they discover the Kleiber crest they will see the Titanic on it.

James second destination was Dinosaurs and Reptiles, and had several living creatures including salamanders, lizards, and turtles. The instructor talked about extinction and the idea that dinosaurs are not really extinct but live on in birds. He showed several dinosaur skulls then the kids got to pet the lizards and the animated triceratops.

Afterwards all the kids got ice cream sundaes. What a way to spend an evening!

  • James Makes Hoover Elementary Honor Roll 2011

Yes its true, no one was more stunned than us, but it appears James turned it up at school and really did well this marking period, making the Honor roll and getting several awards including an award for improvement in reading. His behavior has been much better as well, although in a recent parent/teacher meeting the teachers said James gets a little anxious the last half hour of school and if he causes them trouble thats usually the time.

We are all proud of James and when we got the news from school took James out to Walmart and bought him a video game he had wanted (we were going to get it for him for Christmas anyhow). Hopefully he can continue winning awards at school and making his family proud.

  • Halloween Treats from Hoover Elementary 2011

Wow, it seems each year James brings more and more home from school for Halloween treats. This year he got so much it looked like Trick or Treat time. James got a flash light, vampire pen, pez, marshmallow Halloween meal, finger candy, candy corn, and even a pop corn hand with candy corn fingernails.

Special thanks to all who contributed to Jame’s loot and if he does this well at Trick or Treat he will be doing great. Also a special thanks to Mrs Jent and all of Hoover elementary who always go out of their way to make holidays special for the students.
