  • Our Remodeled McDonalds

For many years when we gave directions to our house we would always say to turn after the 50’s McDonalds, but now we will have to say turn after the European style McDonalds which has been under remodelling all winter and spring long with just the drive thru opened. Today, after coming home from a lunch with Grandma, James and his Dad saw the new design McDonalds is opened and so we stopped in and ordered a couple cokes (we had just ate with Grandma at Red Robins so we were not hungry). Its very neat and clean with the option of ordering from stations as well as waiting in line.

However, I miss the old 50’s McDonald with Superman crashing through the glass.

  • James Gold Honor Roll

James did great his second trimester and was rewarded with the gold honor roll. The family is very pleased and proud of his accomplishment at Annapolis.

  • A Visit To Ford Garage Restaurant

What a fun place to eat the Ford Garage was. Its located near Greenfield Village on Michigan Avenue a few blocks from the Oakwood/Michigan Ave intersection. Its only been open about 6 months or so, but it is sure worth a visit. There are two bars and a huge television (along with dozens of other television scattered about) so its a perfect place to watch the big game. There are two bars there, each with an old Ford vehicle above them with the wheels spinning to create a wonderful atmosphere similar to Greenfield Village.

  • James Makes Silver Honor Roll

We are all very proud of James and his academic work at High School. He was rewarded today with the Silver Honor roll from Annapolis High School.

  • Meteor of 2018

Meteor lights up the neighborhood for a second. We all felt it but only James saw the light it caused.

  • Manuels Taco Hut at Christmas

Each year we go to Manuels Taco Hut for their Halloween display, but this year we wanted to do something different and see their Christmas display. It was well worth it and at least as good as the Halloween one. Lots of decoration above us including a choo choo train that goes along the entire restaurant and plenty of “bumble” (the abominable snowman from Rudolph). James had a great time and enjoyed the food as well. All in all a very fun trip.

  • After Halloween Sale 2017

This year many of our usual reliable places must not have ordered as much as the selection was sort of light this year. Cracker Barrel had 70% off, Michaels 80%, Walmart 70%, Spirit 50%, Halloween City 50%, Home Depot 50%, and CVS %50. We did not find any 90%. Spirit and Halloween City had disappointing years in our opinion so there wasn’t much we even wanted at either of these stores. The big winner for sales this year had to be Home Depot and Big Lots (we can throw in Walmart for the cheap skeletons which were less than Spirit or City at 50% off and just as good). The big winner for after Halloween sales had to be Cracker Barrel and Home Depot, both had good selections of their stock left. Walmart did good as well but you had to find the right Walmart, same with Michaels. Some Walmarts and Michaels literally had nothing left, others were great (Belleville Walmart and Allen Park Michaels saved the day in our opinion).

One of the interesting things we found were toilet paper holders that when you spin to get toilet paper they make scary sounds. We also picked up some more projections since the ones we used this year did fine. For materials we were able to get more crafts from Michaels and door covers from Walmart. Life size we only got a were wolf from CVS and a toxic zombie from Spirit.

  • A Summer Project

Nothing better for a boy and his dad to work on a nice summer project, and this year was the marble roller coaster. On the surface this looks pretty simple, but actual construction was problematical at best as many items had to be considered. After several hours, and help from Kitty Thelma, we were finally able to make the thing work and video taped it as proof because we suspect not too many people would have the patience to deal with this thing.

  • Bronners 2017

Mom had a coupon for Bavarian Inn so on the trip back from Mackinac we ate a late lunch in Frankenmuth and then proceeded to Bronners to round out the day. Mom also had a coupon for 15% off anything we buy at Bronners so we checked everything out and saved a little money along the way. James saw a $4,500 Christmas tree he liked that he liked in the Christmas tree forest, the tree was taller than our home. On the way out we saw the Bronners parade float and snapped a couple pics there as well. It was a really great finale to a wonderful time up North.
