  • 2023 Tigers VS Orioles Comerica Park

James and his family were invited to a Tigers game by Nick and his family. The game was special because the first 15,000 people would receive a Miggy T-shirt free. Things got interesting the night before when the Friday game was rained out, prompting the Saturday game to be moved up to a 12:10 start time with the Friday makeup game taking place at 5:10, sort of a strange Saturday double header (although each game had its own tickets so we could only see the earlier game).

The Tigers would go on to win, matching their season high on runs, 7-4. Unfortunately they lost the second game. One of the big highlights of the game was James and Nick being on the jumbotron at Comerica park.

  • Holiday Bowling with VIP Camp 2022

VIP Camp put on another great event with a Holiday bowling party with the VIP campers. The event started at 11am and went through till 2pm which included drinks and food for the campers. James had a great time with his friends and stuck around at the end to get some pictures taken with them.

Usually this event included pizza but the bowling alley said that due to inflation it could not afford to provide pizza anymore so the campers got chicken nuggets and french fries which went over good. A great time was had by all and congrats to the VIP Camp.

  • 2022 Tigers VS Whitesox at Comerica Park

Its been a while since we went as a family to a Tiger game at Comerica park, but we were lucky enough to attend when Nick – a friend of James – invited us to the game to celebrate his birthday. And what a game it was…

The Tigers have been a bit of a disappointment this year, but not tonight. The game went into extra inning and the Tigers finally won in walk off fashion 3-2. Great Job Tigers.

After the game we stayed for the fireworks show and Dad said the last time he saw a fireworks show at the ball game it was at Tiger Stadium.

Happy Birthday Nick and thanks for inviting us. (more…)

  • Wounded Warrior Fund Raiser 2021

Dad visited some of his friends at a Wounded Warrior fund raiser in Novi. Mike, Tom, and Jim each have special roles in making this charity the success it is. It helps people who have been wounded meet expenses and they do this through fund raisers such as a bean bag tournament. Next month will be a golf tournament fund raiser so these guys are really staying busy working for a great cause.

  • James Receives a Track Award at Sports Banquet

James and his family attended a small track and field sports banquet where the track team would meet for the last time this year. Track was difficult due to covid as the student athletes would have to be tested for covid weekly. In addition to that, the track field was being torn down so the last track meet at Annapolis had to be done at the opposing school’s field due to the construction.

Once again the students did their best and there was never a complaint from any of them.

The banquet had an awesome Greek salad that Mom and Dad really liked and was surprise that it came from Domino’s. A very good combination of pizza’s made this a very entertaining time and also a very good meal. (more…)

  • Annapolis Track Award Ceremony

James and his family went to the Annapolis Track Award Ceremony where the track team received awards, letters, and such. James got his letter last year so this year he received a chevron for his participation. The track ceremony was actually held at the O.W. Best cafeteria which made it a little closer to home for us.

After the ceremony there was a pizza dinner for all, along with cookies, cake, and drinks. A great time for all and a very special moment for James.

It was a well deserved moment for the whole track team who really worked through some awful weather and construction which made even getting to some of the track events challenging.

  • Autorama With Racing Legend Tony Stewart 2019

Nascar driver and owner Tony Stewart was on hand at the Autorama in Detroit and James, Mom, and Dad all got to meet him and get an autographed picture.

We first noticed people lining up a couple hours before Tony was scheduled to show so we went and saw the exhibits then got in line around noon. The wait was a little under two hours but it was worth it. Tony was very pleasant and friendly to everyone and James got to shake his hand. Tony was only here in Detroit for a couple hours so we were able to get plenty of pictures of “Smoke” while waiting in line. James was very happy at the end of the day with his autographed 8×10 of Tony.

Tony has been our favorite driver in the family since before James was born and now as an owner we all root for Tony’s team (including Kevin Harvick and Cling Boyler as part of Stewart Haas racing) All in all a fun time for all and plenty of autographs to go around

  • Pocono Speed Way 2018

After Dads class in New York, we all began the long trek home from our weekend excursion but little did we know we were to walk into a big surprise. About 3 miles of I80 is the Pocono Speedway and we thought we would stop in and check out the souvenirs. What a big surprise we got when asked if we wanted a tour of the raceway. When asked how much the tour cost we were told it was free. We went on the tour which took about an hour and boy was it ever great. The tour guide even gave us a ride around the track which we videotaped, and showed us everything about the race track including its self contained power source using a gigantic array of solar cells which powers everything at the race track. The Pocono Speedway is the last privately owned race track in the Nascar circuit which is why the tour was free, the owners want people to be happy and come back…and we will!

  • Congrats on a Great Track Season

Annapolis’s Track Season officially ended today with a pizza party and awards. We were very proud of James who participated throughout the season and finished what he began, improving at the shot put the entire time. James made it to practices and events despite the weather (which seemed more unpredictable this year than most) which says much about his attitude and worth ethic.
James came home with a letter, a certificate, and a plaque with the entire team photo on it, kudos to James and Annapolis for rewarding participants like this. We have uploaded pics of all three here.

James has gotten his own shot put and plans on working out with the shot put ball and his workout bench this summer to become better in his sophomore year and continuing through his high school career at Annapolis. We have the back yard set up for him so he can measure his throws and also have those solar lights so he can throw a little after the sun sets on those exceptionally hot days.

  • James on Track Team

We are all proud of James as he performs for Annapolis JV Track Team. He is currently on the JV squad but did throw a little for the Varsity at certain events. James does the shot put and each time he throws the ball he gets a little better and better. He also is working on the Discus throw. James and Dad hope to work on this over the summer months which his coach says means he needs to strengthen his upper body as best as possible. James has gotten several exercises to do from his coach and has been very attentive and diligent in his practices both at Annapolis and the back yard. So far James’s biggest nemesis has been all the rainfall we received this spring.
