  • VIP Camp – Awesome Park Cleanup Crew

Thank to the awesome helpers who came out to participate in the Park Clean Up Fundraiser. Not only were we able to raise enough money for one field trip with busing next year but Konely and James both walked away with free backpacks supplied by the Lincoln Park Police Department who hosts a Cops Care benefit each year. Once again we had the privileged of participating in their fun event after our clean up! Nothing like free food and backpacks after a little bit of work!

Did you miss out on a chance to help raise funds for VIP? It’s not too late cause next weekend VIP Camp will be hosting a booth at Lincoln Park Days Festival and we would love for some of the families to come help us out at the booth and spread the word about out awesome campers! If you are interested in working our booth for a few hours please contact us for time set up.

  • VIP Camp 2018

James had another fantastic year at VIP Camp. His favorite part was zooma dancing right before a thunderstorm knocked out the power to the Taylor Sports Complex where the camp was taking place. This year had many field trips including Turtle Cove, Skore Lanes (two trips including the last day party), Texas Roadhouse, Movie Theatre (where he saw Transylvania 3), Heritage park, and the Sterling Heights Play Place. All in all a great success, big thanks to the staff at VIP camp and all James’ friends that made is such a nice memory for him.

  • VIP Camp 2017

Another season of VIP camp has come and gone, it sort of symbolizes the beginniner of the end of summer since it ends the beginning of August. James had a blast this year especially with all the swimming adventures that went on during the camp.

The camp begins the week after the 4th of July and as mentioned above ends usually around the time the Magic Get Together begins (early August). The camp goes from Monday till Thursday beginning around 9:30am and ending at 2:30pm. During this time the campers see and do an array of fascinating things from visiting Turtle Cove to going to the movies to having a squirt gun battle outside the building. A great social experience for the kids and James loves it.

  • Howell Nature Center Camp 2016

For the second year in a row James was invited to attend the Howell Nature Center camp for 5 days. This is without a doubt one of the biggest highlights of the year for James as he is not burdened with Mom and Dad for a few days and can just enjoy life and the great outdoors with his friends from Lincoln Park Middle School. The kitties we have did not know what to think since James usually returns from school or Vip Camp around 3-4 so they stared at the front window during that period of day. James phoned home a couple times and finally returned to us on a rainy Friday afternoon where we picked him up and treated him to lunch.

  • VIP Camp 2016

Its hard to believe this year is going by so fast, it seems like we just sent James off to school in January and now his first summer camp is already over, where did all the time go. James had a very enjoyable summer with the VIP camp folks and was involved in trips to Turtle Cove, Movies, Restaurants, and many craft projects. This year his VIP camp overlapped with the Abbott Get Together and Howell Nature center so James missed the last few days, but Mom and Dad stopped by to drop off the charity money and pick up James’ photo album which include many of the pictures shown here.

The VIP Counselors with a message for James who was away at Howell Camp for the last week of VIP Camp.

  • James Returns From Howell Summer Camp 2015

James returned to us today after a week camping in Howell. It was an awesome experience for him as his group leader was his 2015/2016 teacher and also his 2014/2015 teacher was a group leader. James enjoyed the fishing but said it was too noisy to catch anything and the fish stayed away. He also enjoyed the camp fires and smores as well as the zip lining where he told us he was about a 100 feet in the air. His all time favorite however was meeting all the animals at the nature preserve.

So many stories for Mom and Dad that he didn’t really know where to begin. We treated James to a Happy Meal and salad as he was pretty hungry from the bus ride and had not eaten lunch yet.

James is already looking forward to camping next year, two more weeks and he will see most of the people again as he enters 7th grade.

  • James Leaves For Howell Summer Camp 2015

This was a big day for James as he headed off for a week of summer camp in Howell MI. We had to be at the school at 7am but unfortunately the bus was late and James did not actually leave until a little after 9am, but we are sure it will be well worth the wait for him as they have all sorts of cool activities planned. James was happy to see all the other kids (all from Middle School and a few from High School) especially the ones in his class like Jonathon and Dillon. This will mark the longest time James has been away from us. Looking back he spent one night with his Aunt Criss at a hotel, and he spent one day with Dad while Mom flew to Nashville, so James has not really been away from his family all that much and I am sure we will miss him this week.

Hopefully he will have many stories to tell us when he returns because he won’t have pictures since they don’t allow cell phones, computers, laptops, iPads, iPods, or anything else electronic at camp. We have to wonder who James will miss most, his family, his cats, or his iPad.

  • VIP Camp Party 2015

The last day of James’ first camp, aka VIP Camp, was today and as usual featured a party and and a meal. Seeing people we might not see again for a year is always a little sad, but there were no frowns today at this fun event. This year instead of hot dogs the folks at VIP ordered pizza. As usual our contribution was some of the pop as everyone brought a dish making it a pot luck of sorts.

James played a few games with his friends then bid them all a fond fair well till next year. Its hard to believe how fast the time is flying for events like this, it just seems like the other day we were talking about August during February snow storms, now it is here and James’ first camp is already over. My how time flies when you are having fun.

  • VIP Camp Begins 2015

Once again VIP camp has begun and for the last few years this has been one of James’ all time favorite activities. Its sort of like school with only recess and arts and crafts. The kids play all sorts of games and already this week James has a new tie dyed shirt that he made himself, he has dressed up as Batman for a costume party, and he spent an afternoon bowling with his friends. It also is a sign to us that summer is going by quickly, with the Fourth of July last week and VIP camp beginning this week. Hopefully we all can seize the summer moments this year as the memories of the last two winters are still fresh in everyone’s mind.

  • VIP Camp Party 2014

The 2014 VIP camp came to an end with a party where all the family was invited. Mom and Dad joined James for the luncheon which included games and all sorts of fun.

The festivities began on the indoor field where the kids (and adults) participated in several games, races, and activities while the lunch was being prepared.

The lunch was alot of food, no other way to explain it. Everyone had plenty to eat and after the lunch the adults challenged the kids to a competitive game of “pass the ball”.

At the end of the party, James said his goodbye’s but fortunately he should meet up with most of the kids either through the fund raising parties, the winter skating activities, and (of course) his own Halloween party.
