  • James Go Cart Racing 2015

James went to Midway Entertainment (known as putt putt to us older folk) and rode the go carts about 6 times and also did the dodge em cars a couple times. This was a scheduled visit with his VIP camp and most of his friends were there with him having a blast. This was the last field trip for his VIP camp this summer and the camp itself will have its annual last day celebration this Thursday so we should have a bunch of photos from that event.

Midway entertainment certainly has gotten more activities since James’ dad was young. Back then there was a small putt putt, driving range, batting cages, and a couple trampolines. Its been around a long time.

  • Pool Relaxing on a Busy Weekend 2015

James had a very busy weekend starting on Friday with a trip to see his Doctor (we had to get him out of the pool because he was having so much fun before the appointment). Upon return James went right back to his pool duties. On Saturday we visited New Boston and Lapeer (one a little South of us, one a little North). After visiting a couple shops James then ate at his favorite restaurant, the China Buffet on telegraph road in Taylor. Finally, after letting his food digest James finished off the Saturday with another swim in the pool. Tomorrow we go visit Aunt Peg on another weekend adventure!

  • James Swimming Pool 2015

We are all set for summer now, its official – the pool is up! Last year we had to wait until James finished school to see if he would get his swimming pool or not. This year he already had it so we put it back up and James (with a little sunscreen) was relaxing in his pool in no time.

Prior to getting the pool up we tried leveling the ground beneath it with 18 bags of soil and we have the water level from the highest point to the lowest point at about 1 inch which is better than last year. James worked very hard leveling the dirt and did a real fine job.

It seems each year we are adding dirt to the backyard, must be gravity at work.

  • Bowling at Woodhaven Lanes 2014

James came out to Woodhaven for a bowling fundraiser that supports his summer VIP Camp and had a blast. In addition to the bowling, he enjoyed, pizza, pop, and cake! James got to meet many of his friends from the camp including the counselors and parents. It was only a little more than a week ago that VIP camp ended, but it was still a reunion for James. James bowled very well but did not throw a strike, however he did do a spare and finished up nicely. All in all, it was a great day that constantly looked like rain but never actually did – and we have had enough rain for one summer.

  • Summer Pool Fun 2014

With summer finally here we had a couple weeks before James VIP camp started and James took advantage of the situation by swimming in his new pool several times a day. Once VIP camp started, James continued to use the pool on a pretty much daily basis.

However in August James rarely used the pool, perhaps because there was so much going on, or perhaps because it was no longer a novelty. Regardless, the first two months of summer and the pool were a wonderful time for everyone, even though it was hard to maintain and keep clean (IE we could no longer mulch the back yard when mowing or the clippings would end up in the pool).

  • Chasing a Rainbow at a Softball Game 2014

James and Dad went to the park (despite a slight rain) to watch some of Dad’s friends play softball at Levigood (spelling??? The park outside Divine Child high school) park in Dearborn Heights. James spent most of the time playing in the park nearby, but was on hand when the game went into extra innings. The game went into extra inning and (unfortunately) Dad’s friends lost in the extra innings. All the same it was a fun visit for both James and Dad, who used to play softball not that long ago.

On the way home we were treated to a rainbow hovering over Dearborn Heights. James decided he wanted to chase it down so we continued past Dearborn Heights into Taylor but the rainbow continued to elude us, going more and more South the close we came to it. Although we came close, we never did catch up to the rainbow.

Finally the rainbow disappeared altogether and James and Dad returned home from a fun afternoon in “the heights”.

  • James Graduation Gift – A Pool in 2014

As agreed upon way back in the cold days of February, James got his pool upon successful graduation and continuous good behavior at school. James was very excited about the pool and even when there was only one inch of water in it, he got in. Saturday we got the pool about half full and Sunday evening it was completely full. Monday James had to wear a white t shirt in the pool because he was getting a lot of sun, even with layers of cream on.

All in all a wonderful experience for James and he certainly has already gotten his money worth out of the pool (we actually bought the pool on a Memorial Day sale at Walmart, where we paid online and picked it up about a week later at the store).

Also, the title of this post “End of Spring” was Jame’s idea since he is ready for summer and the upcoming summer VIP camp that he is so fond of attending.

  • Hoover Elementary Mom and Son Game Night 2014

James and Mom attend the Mother and Son night at Hoover elementary. My understanding is it kind of makes up for the Father and Daughter dance held earlier in the year. Refreshments were available and their were many games and activities for the kids to play. James was quite proficient in explaining new games to Mom that she had never seen before and most of the time spent was playing games (I guess that’s why its called “game night”. James brought home a huge styro-foam airplane that we flew in the back yard that evening.

All in all a great time for everyone, except Dad of course.

  • Thank You For The Get Well Basket 2014

James wanted to thank everyone who got him the fruit basket when he caught cold this winter.

  • Kittyville 2014

James got a surprised this Christmas when he received a new pet from the Humane Society. These kittens were rescue kittens and have really become a part of the household (especially with the cold winter we are having where everybody is inside most of the day).

Currently these kittens are on a kitty chow diet and I don’t know what they put in that stuff but the kitty litter used in the house has gone up a lot more than you would expect. We also keep the kittens out of the basement because we don’t want them messing around with some of the nooks and crannies you can find in a basement (or with the decorations stored down there). Once it warms up we should be able to put the Holiday decorations in the garage and the kittens will be much bigger and not able to crawl into small places.

All in all, everyone is enjoying the new additions and watching them grow.
