James Receives MOSPA Academic Award
James received a special award from Wayne County Community College, but we had to travel up North for the ceremony which was about a half hour West of Gaylord.
The award is known as a MOSPA award (Michigan Occupational Specialties Populations Association) and is described as a Student who has demonstrated perseverance, personal growth, and exemplary achievement. As you can see in the pics there were not many students who won this as most of the awards were for teachers.
While it was a long journey it was well worth it to see James add another honor to his already impressive student resume.
2023 James Graduation from Wayne County Community College
It was a beautiful June day and it was James graduation day. James graduated with honors and was the top student at his campus (the Taylor campus). James had been attending Wayne County Community College for two years and has earned his first college degree. It came on a sad note though as his Grandma had passed away the day before.
James has been on the Tigers Jumbotron and the Lions, all within a few weeks of each other.
The ceremony was beautiful and held at Ford Field in Detroit (where the Lions play. The ceremony took a couple hours and concessions were open for it, although I do not think alcohol was being served. After the ceremony we took James to his favorite restaurant and then home for ice cream and cake (and congratulatory balloons)!
Congratulations James, we are all so very proud of you.

2023 James Recognized at District Honors Convocation
James was recognized with honors at Wayne County Community College in Taylor Michigan this day. There was a ceremony and several guest speakers before the honor students marched up to the stage to receive their commendations.
After the ceremony we took a couple pictures and then went out for ice cream. Once again, James has made his family proud and it was not without much effort on his part. Many long nights he would be up late studying for exams or prepping for classes. This semester he had classes not only in Taylor but also two days a week in Detroit, not to mention a virtual class at home so it was a very busy and hectic schedule this last semester for James.
Congrats James, very well done!

2023 Last Day of School for James
James had his last day of college today as he was studying and taking exams at the Detroit campus. James feels he has done pretty well so we are all optimistic that he will have a great graduation and hopefully graduate with honors.
James’ graduation is about a month away, but because of the scheduling, his last day is in early May. This gives him a little spring/summer break before graduation, and then on to VIP camp.
Looking back on the last two years it is amazing how fast time flies, seems just like yesterday we were picking him up from OW Best Middle School.
2023 All Michigan Academic Team
James was selected to the 2023 All Michigan Academic Team and the whole family is extremely proud of his accomplishment. James had to leave very early to make the hour and a half trek to East Lansing (just outside the Breslin center) with snow all the way there and back, but it was worth it for the honor. After the ceremony a lunch was served but James decided to leave to get back to his class which was scheduled at 1pm. Perhaps James’ dedication to school is one of the reasons that he made the team this year.
Congrats James!

Phi Theta Kappa 2022
We were all excited and proud when we found out that James made Phi Theta Kappa at Wayne County Community College. The event began at about 6 pm and lasted about an hour and a half and was very well done with several guest speakers. James attended rehearsal the night before so he kind of knew what to expect, but Mom and Dad were very impressed with the ceremony and thought all the kids (or young adults) did a great job.
Afterwards we spent about a half hour taking pictures and celebrating the achievement with others from the College.
Very proud of you James! Continue reading “Phi Theta Kappa 2022” →
14th Grade (2022)
James began his second year of college today, or as he likes to say, 14th Grade. James is enrolled at Wayne County Community College and is really doing great. We hope he makes it to the Deans list as well. Most of Dads family made it to the Principles list but somehow I don’t think its quite the same thing.
James plans on graduating with a two year degree in Spring of 2023, and then heading off to Wayne State Community College to complete his four year degree.
