Annapolis Seniors Parade 2021
The whole family worked on this parade. Dad took the day off so he could help Mom with the cleaning of the car, then the decorating begins and the car turned out better than we imagined. James drove in the parade but because he only has a drivers permit it meant that Dad had to accompany him on the trip.
The parade began at Mayfair where the cars lined up in the big parking lot adjacent to the board. The parade then went down Annapolis street where it turned into the old St. Albert parking lot and then went back down Annapolis to the Mayfair. It was a great time.
James enjoyed it very much and especially because he got to drive in it. It was kind of strange telling him to ignore stop signs and such as he was still learning how to drive (he has over 50 hours so he has met the state requirement, the testing facility he wants to go to (Apollo) has not opened since the pandemic so we hope that business survived. 4th of July Festival and Parade 2013
James and his family attended the 2013 Colon 4th of July Parade. The visit began at the park, then moved to the parade grounds where we watched the largest parade of emergency vehicles that we hav ever seen, then a trip to the magic shop, then the midway where James shot 8 holes of Putt Putt golf and played several games, lunch at the diner, then back to the midway where James won a cake in a cake walk, and then finally back home in time to do fireworks – after everyone had ice cream of course.
The red, white and blue flowers were a gift for Mom from James!
Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade 2012
James and the entire Hoover Elementary class participated in their annual Halloween Parade. James went as skeleton (as he did last year) because he figured there would be many Mario’s (which is what he is trick or treating as tonight).
The parade went into the residential area which was different than previous years. It was also held on Halloween day, Oct 31st, which I don’t think it was in the past. The parade stretched well over a block in length and was very impressive to see.
Great time by all and the weather, although 42 degrees and slightly wet, was good enough to get the event in.

Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade 2011
For the second year in a row James and his classmates participated in the Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade. The entire school marched around the front of the school in their halloween costumes, led by their principle Mrs Springer, who wore the purple jester costume. The costumes seemed to be much more elaborate than last years, with Darth Vader and Batman seeming to be the favorites among boys, and witches and angels the favorites among girls.

Hoover Elementary Halloween Parade 2010
James had a big day Friday, the 29th of Oct, when he got to dress up in his Halloween costume to go to school. James was pretty excited the night before and did not sleep well, in the morning he was yawning and was somewhat sluggish while watching Curious George. This is actually not what he will be wearing on Halloween (he will be Woody from Toy Story but we were very concerned the high winds might blow away Woody’s cowboy hat at the parade). The parade took place around the school and it appeared everyone was very well dressed. James looked surprised and somewhat in awe at the festivities, this was the first parade he has ever been in (he has seen several) and was a little shy, but he soon got into the swing of things, waving to his adoring public. Later in the day they had a Halloween party for just the students and James came home with many Halloween decorations he made in class.
Most of the decorations for Halloween are up, but not a lot outside yet (we had pretty heavy winds so none of the inflatables are up yet, they will go up Halloween morning if the weather permits). Weather is forecasting rain on Halloween so we have made preparations for other activities if Jame’s trick or treating is shortened.

Magic Capitol 4th of July Parade & Festival 2010
The Fourth of July celebration in Colon is truly a marvel for the year. Our family and I had a wonderful time again. Our day began at 11am watching the parade go down main street from the high school. Our friends Walter and Mary Weaver were gracious host so we had a front row seat for most of the activities. There were many highlights of the parade but most of our group felt the flyover by the jets was the best part.
Once the parade ended and we took a short break, then went down for the festivities which included many games and activities including a couple new ones. Our group then hooked up for a magic show at Abbott’s where we enjoyed a wonderful performance by Gordon Miller.
Special thanks to Walter and Mary Weaver for having us. Thanks to Grandma for joining us as well.

Magic Capitol 4th of July Parade 2008
This is Colon MI, the Magic Capital of the World, and each year they have a huge parade and festival to celebrate the 4th. James has a blast each time he comes here. As the floats pass by they toss out candy to the kids so its like trick or treat in the summer. They also have people in the parade with wheel barrels full of cold water handing it out to all the spectators so that there is no worry about anyone overheating in the July sun.
Plenty of vehicles in this parade that lasted a little over an hour with a presentation at the end. Floats, tractors, homecoming queens, police and fire were all part of the show.
A great time was had by all who attended ever though it was a little on the hot side, but not too hot.
Lake George Pontoon Parade 2005
These are pictures of the annual Lake George Pontoon Parade which happens each 4th of July. Creative designs such as an automobile ship, live band ship, and pirate ship are among the contestants today. My sisters German Shepard Minshee is watching all the events take place.
My sisters neighbors have an awesome fireworks show, along with other people who live on the lake, and its an awesome display seeing all those fireworks going off on different parts of the lake. So if you are ever looking for something different to do on the 4th, check out a lake town.
Red Wings Championship Parade 1997
After 42 years the Detroit Red Wings broke the curse and won a Stanley Cup, here we are celebrating downtown the day of the parade. It was an extremely hot summer day and we waited downtown for hours, so we were quite parched when the parade finally ended at Hart Plaza. We did not stay for the speeches, only the parade. We went to a great bar with an outdoor barbecue and one of the Red Wings showed up to get a bratwurst off the grill so that was kind of neat.
Great time was had by all and congrats to the Detroit Red Wings. Now if we can just do something about those Lions…
