New Years Fireworks 2020

Happy New Year 2020

While we did not get a white Christmas this year, we did get a white New Years Eve and the Christmas decorations on the block really looked good with the snow reflecting all the lights. James put a lot of work into this years New Years display, decorating the living room and working on his new decade trifold. His explanation was that this was not only a new year, but a new decade so he had ten horns set up in his trifold to represent each year in a decade. A great time was had by all but especially James on this first day of a new decade. Mom and Dad could not help but imagine what type of a celebration he would have put on had he been around at the turn of the millenium twenty years ago.

Happy New Year 2020 Countdown

New Years 2019

As usual, James stayed up late to celebrate the New Year in his own inimitable way. After doing his countdown from 2018 to 2019, we heard the fireworks going off down the street and went outside to enjoy them on this relatively mild first day of January. The firework shows on New Years are pretty impressive since they legalized firework sales in Michigan.

The news was not good for Michigan this bowl season as they suffered another second half blowout. I do not know why they look so good at home and sometimes so awful on the road or neutral sites. They also seem tired in these second half blowouts, hope they get it fixed.

James has his own New Years Eve countdown that he does every year. He starts with about 40 seconds till the New Year and then continues on till the zero hour arrives.

Happy New Year 2016

Happy New Years Everyone. New Year Eve began at Red Robins with Dynamike the Magician as James feasted on onion rings and pizza while everyone else had burgers. Dynamike surprised everyone with gifts for everyone, some you will see at Halloween. As the evening progressed we had the absolute disappointment watching MSU get skunked by Alabama, but the evening picked up as we approached midnight and James did his one minute countdown that he loves to do.

New Years Day was great with all the football, however almost all the games were blowouts. Fortunately Michigan routed Florida which sort of helped make up for the game the night before.

New Year 2015

James continued his New Year countdown tradtion as only he can, using his Ipad synced with the television the whole family welcomed in 2015. Mom and Dad shared some champagne while James got some Mountain Dew soda pop. After the countdown fireworks were going off outside and James watched those for a while, then we all settled in and watched some of the entertainment on tv, including a special performance by Elton John. All in all, a long day and night but an enjoyable one.

The next day was spent watching football, good games by Big Ten Teams Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Ohio State set the pace. The Michigan State game was very memorable due to coming back with three touchdowns in the 4th quarter to overcome a 20 point deficit.

New Years 2014

James brought in the New Year several different ways this year. First he had a countdown on the living room wall during the Holiday season. Next, he had a countdown on his Ipad. Simultaneously he had the countdown on the television going along with his Ipad countdown. Finally, he had fireworks saved from the 4th of July that we lit in the back yard.

We stayed up late listening the the music and the bands on the television station while watching the firework show outside. James got to bed around 1am and slept well into the Rose Bowl parade the next day. Watching the Rosebowl game we were glad to see a team from Michigan (MSU Spartans) win the game over Stanford with their great defense.

All in all, a great start to 2014

Happy New Year 2013

James synced his Ipad2 with the TV to make sure everyone knew when 2012 ended and 2013 began.
