Screamers Dream Cruise 2022

Our friends at Screamers had a huge event today, a sort of dream cruise event. The creepy cars were parked in their parking lot (which was nearly full) and all their items were 10 percent off in the store. The line for the store was huge so we spent most of our time enjoying the outside events.

Lets recap this weekend. Seeing a spook show on Friday and then going to a Spirit Halloween opening on Saturday, followed by a Screamers event on Sunday – all in early August – we had to say that it just doesn’t get any better than that.

Or as Jim Harbaugh says, “who has it better than us? Nobody!! Continue reading “Screamers Dream Cruise 2022”

New Car Day at Ford and Dodge Dealerships

Dad had been trying to get a lock repaired on his company car for about a month now, but the Dodge dealership wanted him to leave it for three days just to get a look at it because they were so busy so Dad shopped around and found a dealership on Michigan Ave that said they would do it the same day if at all possible so Dad brought his car into the dealership and figured he would drive Moms Fusion to work that day.

Across the street was the Ford dealership which had a tent sale going on and Dad met up with Mom and James there. Mom, Dad, and James played some of the games and got free hot dogs at the event. Mom decided to turn in her Fusion for a recall which meant Dad did not have a car to drive to work in. The Ford dealership worked with us and Mary got a new Fiesta at a great rate and the Ford dealership loaned Dad a car for work and lucky they did as the Dodge dealer did not finish his car till late afternoon the next day.

Probably the first time a loaner car was issued from Ford for a Dodge vehicle being worked on.

Labor Day Car Show 2018

While shopping at the Allen Park plaza (where the old VA used to be) we ran across this unique car show that had a huge big screen TV at the center and many unique vehicles. The big screen tv was showing American Graffiti and was pretty visible despite it being daylight outside. Many official vehicles were there from Allen Park such as the police car which James really liked. Our favorite was a creepy car with a coffin in it which seemed ripe for Halloween. All in all a great start to our Labor Day weekend.

Colon Car Show 2018

Colon Car Show was going on during the Get Together and featured many different classic cars and vehicles. What was really nice was the Police and Fire Dept were there displaying their vehicles as well which was cool. James used his allowance to buy a Fire Dept T shirt which as nice as he thanked them for their service. Mom is the big car fan and she simply loved this, especially since we didn’t even know it was going on. Hopefully it will be on the schedule for next year for sure.

Greenfield Village Motor Muster 2016

We knew going into this day it was going to be a hot one, so we ate a light lunch and ventured onward to Greenfield Village to see the annual Motor Muster of classic cars. The entire village was full of cars and people and we had a hard time finding a parking spot even at the furthest reaches of the Henry Ford parking lot. Fortunately we got in, traveled mostly via the train and the cab around the park. The temperature did hit 93 degrees but there was no humidity so we were quite comfortable most of the time. Great classic car show, we have missed it for the last couple times but we made sure to catch it this year.

Magic Capitol Car Show 2010

It was magic week in Colon Michigan and the whole family went to share in the festivities. There was a car show this year and it was a pretty big success considering it was the first one for the city of Colon. Each car had a bucket out front and you were supposed to throw a quarter into your favorite cars bucket. The car with the most quarters wins a prize! There were loads of prizes donated by the various local shops so more than half of the cars shown in these pictures received prizes.

James did his usual romp around the craft fair and local beach, Mary took in the evening magic show which featured some of the worlds best magicians. Dad got to spend some time in the magic shop (which is always a fun experience for me) and also went on the graveyard tour where famous magicians like Blackstone are buried.

James 1.80 Financial Setback & Mary’s Ford Fusion 2010

It’s been a while since posting here, most of Feb was spent shoveling snow. Jame’s school work is still going very well and his speech improves every day. He had a couple of snow days in February.

Last week Mary, Peg, James, and myself went to Kroger. Each Sunday James returns the bottles and cashes in the money for candy or toys. This week was no exception and James pushed all the bottles into the machine and got his receipt for $1.80 which he put in his pocket and we made our way to the cashier. Unfortunately the lines were way way long and James did not want to wait, so he found his mom and gave her the receipt and James and I walked out toward the car (we usually listen to the radio when Peg/Mary are grocery shopping). As we were walking to the car, James looks up at me, a look of frustration in his face, and says. “$1.80, All Gone”.

Mary turned in her 10 year old Kia and got a Ford Fusion so my father can stop rolling over in his grave that we bought a Japanese car. The car served its purpose, but was 10 years old with a broken seat and a few other malfunctions. We only have one picture of the new car because it has been buried in snow most of the time in the driveway. Thanks to our neighbor Allen who works for Fords and got us something called a “friend and family” discount.

Cold Water Car Show 2008

We already had a pretty full day today, beginning with the magic flea market in Colon, and then the the petting zoo, but on the way home we stopped for a few hours at the Cold Water Car Show. Mary spent most of the time looking at the hundreds of classic cars that were lined up outside while James and I searched around the flea market part of the show. Obviously Mary had the camera and she did a great job getting shots of all the classic cars for the website.

I think the only picture we got of James was the one here with his dad in front of the spider grill car, the rest of the nearly 200 pics are of cars.

Greenfield Village Motor Muster 2007

It was Motor Muster time at Greenfield Village and we all went down to see the cars. Mary took a bunch of pictures of the automobiles that were on display and James and I enjoyed seeing all the cars mixed in with the historic village. They had a parade down mainstreet and awards were given out for several categories of classic cars.

James takes after his mom and really enjoys cars and such, hopefully he will be more mechanically oriented than his dad who cannot even change his own oil (I tried once but poured the oil into the radiator and everything had to be drained, what a mess).

Telegraph Dream Cruise 2006

This is a new dream cruise that is just getting started and hopefully will rival the Woodward one. We usually sit in front of the antique store and sometimes bring the Nash. Mary is from a car loving family and knows much more about cars than I do. She takes pictures of the cars, then prints the photos and makes an album out of them. She then sends the album to her Dad (Howard) who is in a nursing home down in Tennessee. Her dad enjoys the pictures and getting a chance to see all the classic cars that he drove in his youth.

James joined us in watching the festivities. He was at the event last year as well and enjoys seeing the cars drive by and waving at him. Of course he waves back which keeps him very busy.
