The day could not have been better as we headed to Ford Field in Dearborn for James’ graduation ceremony. Ford Field is where Dearborn Homecoming is hosted and is very popular with the kids for sledding, in fact James went there sledding once with Dad a while back and now it would be the site of his graduation.
We lined up at 4 pm and waited till about 5:30 for the speeches to begin. James spent some of this time socializing and taking pictures with his friends. Once the speeches ended it moved pretty quickly, we were the second group or cars called and we followed each other slowly in a car procession. When we got to where we could see the podium, James jumped out and went up to receive his diploma. We were very far away in the car but did manage to get a shot of it by zooming in on the camera. We did pay $10 for a professional picture so we are looking forward to that (note, we received it and it is now the main pic in the article).
Once James returned to the car, we moved forward to get out of the way and saw a sign with his picture on it that we liked. His principle came to the car and gave us the actual diploma and talked to us for a bit. The procession part was fun because his parents got to be part of the ceremony by driving him, rather than being spectators in a hall.
We then drove off into the sunset as James’ High School Career (and his fathers for that matter) was now complete. He will have a couple more events this week and next but scholastically he is done with High School. Congrats to James on this achievement.
