What do you do when the power goes out? You make the best of it with a trip around town. This time we went to Big Boys for their breakfast bar for the first time in over a year, then we made our way shopping in Trenton. With the power still off we went through Elizabeth park but even then the power was still off, so finally we made our way to Belle Isle and enjoyed the sights of the island. Eventually while we were on the island the power did come on and so we finished up our day in Detroit and finally went home to a house with power. Luckily we never opened the refrigerator or freezer so all our food was still cool/cold. A very interesting day for sure.

Marshall Blues Festival and Museum of Magic 2025
I think this was our first visit to the Blue Festival since the pandemic. It was an extremely hot day, mid nineties to nearly one hundred degrees. The first thing we noticed was the attendance was down, probably due to the extreme temperatures.Mom got to see a few bands while James and Dad explored Marshall. We stopped in to visit the American Museum of Magic and took the tour. They had removed their stage since our last visit and we found a peppers ghost effect that we played with where your face turns into a skull.
After we rejoined Mom we did a little shopping. Mom got her poster and t-shirt and everyone was happy. Too bad it was so hot but hey, thats summer in Michigan. We all had a great time and it was good to get back to normal after a long layoff for us in attending this festival.

Kitty on the Lookout 2025
Most of the time our kitties eat and sleep, however when one of them is looking intently outside the window, there is usually something going on. In this case, our kitty Hoot was staring intently through the window looking into our backyard. We did not notice anything but Hoot continued the intent staring. We took out our camera to zoom in and see what was going on, the lo and behold, there was a cute little bunny rabbit hiding by one of our bushes in the backyard.I guess Hoot was making sure that the bunny rabbit did not enter her “domain”.

Mackinaw City 2025
The weather was really perfect for Mackinaw this year, and it was still early enough in the season that it wasn’t too crowded at all. Once again we stayed at the Halloween Express (great breakfast by the way and a balcony to boot). For dinner we had pizza which has become our tradition here. Lots of shopping at the dozens of souvenir shops and plenty of t-shirts will be coming back with us. The bridge is spectacular and we spent time at the rock beach wading in the water. Eventually the bugs came out but not before we picked up a souvenir rock from the beach for Moms Garden. Just a beautiful time for the family.

St Ignace Deer Ranch 2025
We could not check into our hotel room until 3pm so we headed across the bridge into St Ignace to do some souvenir hunting and to visit some of our favorite places. The first stop was the Deer Ranch where we went and saw the new deers. This year they had 3 fawns and they were very cute, although they were sleeping while we were there. James once again fed the deers and had a great time doing so. The deers looked very good and very healthy and happy. -
Sea Shell City 2025
Sea Shell City is usually a stop on the way home from Macinaw but this year we decided to stop on the way up. Sea Shell City is about 15 miles South of the Mackinaw bridge. James had to buy another t shirt as the one he got last year as a gift was a size big, so he bought one a size smaller. Mom enjoyed shopping and buying some rock candy, and Dad was fascinated by a sharks head hanging on the wall and thought it would look great on the bathroom wall for Halloween. Unfortunately the sharks head was not for sale but other than that it was a great time at Sea Shell City. -
Mothers Day 2025

Mothers day was perfect and began with a perfect day weather wise!It began with Mom opening gifts in the morning. After the gifts, we packed up and went out to Mom’s favorite China Buffet and everyone enjoyed a super meal. After eating we took Mom out shopping.
We came back home in time to watch the Sunday race, then went back out for Ice Cream at the Dairy Queen (which was James’ treat). All in all a great day and a great time was had by all.

James Bachelor Degree 2025
The final of three graduations took place at the Wayne State Hall. James had to get there an hour early so we dropped him off then did some exploring on our own before entering into the hall. One of these was walking over the bridge on the Lodge freeway and snapping off a couple pictures of the traffic. This was by far the largest of the 3 graduations and was a little more formal as they had a small orchestra or band and they did a great version of the National Anthem as well.
After the graduation we headed out to Bubba’s for dinner, then came home for more of the graduation cake and James got the remainder of his graduation gifts. A whirlwind experience for the whole family.
